June 1st Reviews, Somewhat

Eri’s latest post has me thinking I should do something similar. What would you like to know about my life as a slave or about my experiences in general with hypnosis and D/s?

* * *

Reviewing is more stress and obligation than enjoyment, so I’m going to step back from doing anything but brief mentions and shorter thought-oriented summaries. I’ll still occasionally make highlight posts such as the one I did of Nexis Pas.

"Helpers" definitely makes up for the lack of "Undertow!" I can tell 8-bit enjoyed writing this. "Helpers" is a refreshingly different kind of story coming from him. This is campy in a good way: I could see this being a short made-for-TV movie or an episode of The Twilight Zone.

8-bit writing tech is . . . drool-worthy. His sharp, stark style is a perfect medium for technical themes. He messaged me before sending this off to ask if he should recommend the rb tag. My final answer was a tentative "yes," though it would have been a strong one had I read this first. This isn’t robotisation or even AI (at least not yet), but the human-machine interaction with the machine completely in control sizzled over my robot fetish just as much as if the robot element had been closer to what most think of upon seeing the rb tag.

Archeology students, an underground brainwashing facility, anachronistic mind control—only 8-bit could turn that into a unique and engaging story! His settings are always so tangible. He uses just enough cliché to create familiarity without making things tepid.

Already the beginning of the overarching ethical and moral-but-not-preachy themes his work explores is evident. I adore 8-bit’s ability to explore touchy themes so casually in his writing without preaching or making such things the focus.

The ending could be darker than most would find comfortable, but I think that’s a jump perceptually: this is 8-bit! Something logical and fascinating is going to happen. This installment screams for elaboration. I can’t wait to see where 8-bit takes this story!

Recently, I started doing some face-to-face hypnosis with a male friend (most assuredly vanilla), so maybe I’ll write about that if he consents. If he happens to see this before we talk: I’m sorry! Most of yesterday was spent without a keyboard due to Madam using mine since Asher (our insane kitty) destroyed hers with soda. I also needed a nap. My sleep cycle wasn’t nearly so corrected as I thought. I think things are under control, now . . .

You should deeefinitely write about your slavelife! 'Twould be yummy.

And maybe something about your hypnosis/Ds experience in general too. A perspective from both sides of the pocketwatch would be neat.

I'd like to know how efficient your harddrive is :p

Can you remember things like phrases from books better or easier, or it basically the same principal as organic memory? Cause my RAM is RAM. Somehow, I associate the word 'random' with the word 'sausage'...

Glad ya liked Helpers =p

I wasn't planning to post the second part originally (it was already half written when the first part went up). I thought the first worked as a standalone; it had that kind of build that I like in a short story. In something like a horror magazine, I think it would have been good as-is, but mcstories ain't horror. (Not that there's anything wrong with putting up a horror story, it's actually my favorite template-- but, leaving it with the implication that the main character will die of starvation is less than hot.)

Also, putting up the second part let me make that Alien/Aliens reference with the chapter titles =p I'm a referencin' fool! I actually named that character in the first part Ted just so I could make the Jane's Addiction reference. That song has been my wake-up song for a few weeks.

Wow--you've redecorated. It's, uh, dramatic. Did you have a cyan decorator--'No, no, Madame, grey? What can you be thinking of? Impact. IMPACT!!! We want something that says "Read this, you gits"!'

Yes, please, Val, write your story/stories. (Names changed to protect the innocent, should there be any. No animals are to be harmed in the making of the work, but if you choose to relate your experiences with dark, satanic rituals [yummy], the squashing of small, preferably loathsome [not the cute ones like ladybugs], insects is permitted, solely in the interests of verisimilitude, or course.)

Seriously, Val, write. Write. WRITE.

Eri: Your own post is yummy!

Soeroah: I'm not sure. Madam claims to not be good at "clocking things that fast". <.< My memory functions as organic memory. Maybe she should tamper with that . . .

Byte: I never get pop culture references. x.x I relish your geekiness for doing that, though! "Helpers" was delicious! Posting the second part was definitely a good choice. I didn't think Heather was going to starve, but extended detail of the corporate MC and of Heather's interactions post-brainwashing was fun and fascinating to read. You wrote that a little too casually for the themes you were hitting, but that made it better! I still think this could be an episode of The Twilight Zone. You should write more tech! At least more sci-fi. You do both fantastically.

Nex: I figured the Kistublot needed a real design. This is Madam's blog, so the design was her choice. If you think any of it is unattractive, though, please tell me! I was a little worried about that.

I'm not sure if you're referring to my Madam or if that's a general reference, but mine abhors the 'e' added to her title; she would have spelled it that way in the first place if she wanted one.

Don't worry, I'll write. I relish precision and I'm a perfectionist to the hilt, so relating experiences of this nature often takes a while. None of what I've experienced with Madam has actually been *scary*, though some of it has been dark. I'm not sure where to start!

Oh, I finished "A Story for Mike" about a week ago--FABULOUS! I don't normally enjoy revenge stories, but that was a meaningful and resonant one. Honestly, that's the kind of story I wish I could write. Themes of dissociation in general, dissociative methods of mind fucking, hypnosis that really should be termed a 'reality simulation' for how deeply it twists the subject's everyday reality into something *too* normal while the darker things go on in plain sight . . . I can see why you got a swarm of mewling fan mail for this story!

*glares at that entity otherwise known as Real Life* I need to read the other cyan authors you recommended. After my first slave life post I'll make another cyan post.
