Ink Stained Reunion
Epilogue
Sarah groaned. Her wrists were tied over her head, and her ankles were strapped back against the same metal. She didn't know how long she'd been hanging in the bonds. Sleep had overtaken her once already, but without any windows or clocks it was impossible to say if that had been a nap or a full eight hours of nightmares.
Her shining silver skin was her only source of light. She released a small spark from the tip of her nose to illuminate the darkness, but it had barely moved half a foot away before it dissolved against an invisible barrier. Her naked silver skin shimmered in the light of her spark as she struggled to bring her eyes to focus.
A piercing need to know where she was pulsed in time with her frantic heartbeat. She could see a stone floor at her feet, but that hardly narrowed it down.
The bonds were strong, metal lined with something soft stopped them from cutting into her skin. Stained with sweat from her frantic struggles, the lining had long stopped feeling soft. No amount of struggling had succeeded in doing anything but drain her reserves.
Silence was broken by the sound of clicking. Sarah's head turned so fast it almost hurt. She couldn't see the source of the clicks, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to.
A darkly satisfied laugh echoed around her. perfectly matching the clicks.
Sarah whimpered as she tried to stop her eyes from widening. Sweat traced down between her spine and the metal that held her shackles. She tried to make herself shine brighter, only to scream as her silver light faded entirely.
